Message from Father Thu – 03/01/2026

Second Sunday of Lent Cycle A

Last Sunday we entered the desert with Jesus facing the snares of temptation.  This Sunday we climb to the high mountain in witnessing Jesus’ transfiguration.  What high mountain must we climb for us to witness Jesus’ transfiguration?  We must climb the high mountain of listening to Jesus, the high mountain of being pleasing to him, the high mountain of opening ourselves to the touch of his presence.  When we climb this mountain, we forsake our own agenda of pitching the tent of satisfaction with our own works to enter into the glory of the life Jesus offers us.  The mountain is steep; the climb is ours to choose the vision at the top is divine – “white as light,” shining “like the sun.”  Can we see him?  Can we see Jesus in these days of Lent?

Reminder of our activities during Lent this coming week:
  1. Lent Reconciliation during Lent on Friday from 8:35AM till 10AM in Church after morning Mass.
  2. Stations of the Cross begins at 6PM Friday in Church.
  3. Friday Fish Meal serves from 5PM till 7PM in the Parish Hall to dine in or to go.
  4. Next week there will be NO MASSES on the following days: Monday till Wednesday of March 9th till 11th.

Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma Ciclo A

El domingo pasado entramos en el desierto con Jesús, enfrentándose a las trampas de la tentación. Este domingo subimos a la montaña alta para presenciar la transfiguración de Jesús. ¿Qué montaña alta debemos escalar para presenciar la transfiguración de Jesús? Debemos escalar la montaña alta de escuchar a Jesús, la montaña alta de agradarle, la montaña alta de abrirnos al toque de su presencia. Al escalar esta montaña, abandonamos nuestra propia agenda de plantar la tienda de la satisfacción con nuestras propias obras para entrar en la gloria de la vida que Jesús nos ofrece. La montaña es empinada; la subida es nuestra para elegir la visión en la cima: divina: “blanca como la luz”, brillante “como el sol”. ¿Podemos verlo? ¿Podemos ver a Jesús en estos días de Cuaresma?

Recordatorio de nuestras actividades durante la Cuaresma la próxima semana:
  1. Reconciliación de Cuaresma durante la Cuaresma el viernes desde las 8:35 a. m. hasta las 10 a. m. en la Iglesia después de la Misa de la mañana.
  2. El Vía Crucis comienza a las 6 p. m. el viernes en la Iglesia.
  3. La comida de pescado del viernes se sirve desde las 5:00 p. m. hasta las 7:00 p. m. en el salón parroquial para comer en el lugar o para llevar.
  4. La próxima semana NO HABRÁ MISAS los siguientes días: Lunes al Miércoles del 9 al 11 de Marzo.
